Search Engine Optimsation (SEO) Services and Tips
When you are looking for specialists in Search Engine Optimisation you may be offered all kinds of promises. SEO is not an exact science and top placements cannot be guaranteed. Our clients have benefitted from our keen interest in SEO with top ten placements for the keywords and phrases they have provided, or those we have suggested through research of daily search terms.
A great example of our ability is that you found our site in the first place. We are number one in Google for the search term Web Design Newcastle [a new browser window will open]. This is assuming Google's not dancing and playing havoc with the logs!
Much of our working week is spent reading and keeping up to date with all the major Search Engines and ongoing changes within the field. We have seen many unscrupulous measures used to get websites listed by individuals and companies claiming to be experts. Although in our experience this may give your website a short term high ranking, in the long run will only serve to get it banned from Search Engines. We do not believe you have to trick and 'spam' Search Engines, but rather feed them with relevant text, separating style from content to produce fast loading, easily accessible websites for their spiders to 'feed' on and 'crawl' through.

Search Engine Optimisation Services
- We automatically optimise each webpage we build for the Search Engines. However, whether we built your website or someone else did, we can
provide constructive feedback in our Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) reports:
- Find out which Search Engines your site is (and isn't) listed in for only £40
- Get a more detailed report using keywords and phrases supplied by you for £60
- We'll analyse your homepage and provide a full report of its limitations for £125 per domain
- We will implement our recommendations to improve your site's SE rankings upon payment of a further fee, to be negotiated according to the site size and action required.
- We advise you to avoid automated mass submitters, and recommend hand-submitting your domain to Search Engines:
- To be hand submitted to the top Search Engines, we charge £175 per domain.
- We currently do not recommend any paid submissions to Search Engines until more research has been done on Yahoo's new Overture Site Match paid-inclusion/PPC program (formerly Inktomi). See High Rankings for more information.
- Recently more and more Search Engines are moving towards placement on a link popularity basis in an effort to outwit spammers. If you would like us to give you a list of websites relevant and may be willing to link to you, we charge £125 -- although we cannot guarantee they 'will' link to you!
- In order to know what's working and what's not, it's important to analyse the traffic and know where your visitors are coming from, what platforms/browsers/operating systems are predominantly used by your visitors, which pages are most popular and which are never visited, and also what keywords visitors are using to find (and actually click onto) your site. We can incorporate a password protected area on your site to provide traffic analysis for £60 p/a
Tips: Encouraging Visitors
- Ensure your site is SE friendly (see 1 above)
- Submit your site to all the free portals -- both crawlers and directories (see 2 above)
- Always include your domain in your email signature file (see above)
- Get as many links back to your site as possible (see 3 above)
- Join forums of interest and relavance, and get involved either just by introducing yourself or post comments -- often these messages are found in Search Engines and the URL in your signature file will help your placement
- Collect email addresses from your website visitors and send out regular mailshots to subscribers (We can set one up for you or there are many free mailing lists you can start yourself)
- Post your URL in chatrooms (if/when relevant -- do not post for posting's sake, this will invariably alienate you and your website!)
- Ensure your domain and email contact are included on ALL your printed literature too
- If appropriate, write a press release for your local/national/free newspaper and/or radio station
- Have a relevant domain name which incorporates your preferred keywords, e.g. webdesign-newcastle -- you found us didn't you?!
- Incorporate a sitemap for Search Engines to feed on and crawl all your pages
- Include a robots.txt file to stop Search Engines from spidering certain areas of your website
- Know your site AND your visitors (see 4 above)
- Keep your website fresh, up-to-date and relevant
Free Search Engines
Search Engine 'rules' are changing everyday and to complicate matters further, the SE companies are being bought out by one another. As search engine specialists, it's our job to keep up to date with current technologies, however, you may decide to submit your site yourself, so below we supply links direct to the *add url* pages for your convenience! Please note that due to the constant changes, some links may be dead, but we will endeavour to keep this page as up to date as possible (let us know if we've missed one).
The following sites will ask for varying information when you submit your site. In order to help minimise your typing, we recommend downloading a useful *freeware* tool called Typeitin. Also, please remember that some engines that ask for your email address may use it to spam you -- we advice you use a throwaway one and monitor where your spam is coming to!
